FAQ

WiFi Setup Issues

Can’t find the “Ryzer” WiFi network

  1. Wait 30 seconds after power-up for the network to appear
  2. Power cycle Ryzer (unplug 12V power, wait 5 seconds, plug back in)
  3. Move closer to Ryzer (WiFi range is limited)
  4. Check if LEDs are YELLOW - if not, Ryzer may already be configured
  5. If needed, reset WiFi settings

Portal won’t open after connecting

  1. Disable mobile data on your phone
  2. Disable automatic network switching in your device settings
  3. Manually browse to http://192.168.4.1
  4. Try using a computer instead of phone (most reliable)

Can’t save WiFi settings

  1. Double-check password (case-sensitive!)
  2. Ensure your network is 2.4GHz (5GHz not supported)
  3. Check that your network uses WPA2 security
  4. Try a network with a simpler password

LEDs stay yellow after saving

This means connection failed. Common causes:

  • Wrong password (most common!)
  • Selected a 5GHz network instead of 2.4GHz
  • Network out of range

The “Ryzer” network will reappear after 1-2 minutes. Connect again and try with correct settings.

  3. Ensure your device is on the same WiFi network as Ryzer
  4. On Windows, try flushing DNS: ipconfig /flushdns

How do I find Ryzer’s IP address?

  1. Log into your router (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
  2. Look for “Connected Devices” or “DHCP Clients”
  3. Find the device named “ryzer” or “ESP32”

Security

Is the “Ryzer” setup network secure?

The setup network is intentionally open (no password) for easy configuration. It’s only active during initial setup - once configured, it disappears and Ryzer joins your home WiFi.

Is my data safe?

Ryzer operates entirely on your local network:

  • No cloud connection
  • No data sent to external servers
  • Only accessible from devices on your WiFi
  • MQTT connection to printer is local only

Do I need USB-C connected?

No - USB-C is only needed for manual firmware flashing. Normal operation uses just the 12V power adapter.
